In a base of carrier oil it is often used as an effective insect repellant.Pure clove oil can irritate the skin, and should be diluted well with a neutral oil before topical application. Use a concentration of less than 2 percent (eg., 15 drops per tablespoon of massage oil).
NOTE: Essential oils may be used aromatically or topically in a variety of ways including diffusers, massages, compresses, baths, scrubs, lotions and sprays. Essential oils should be diluted with a massage oil or carrier oil before applying topically.
